Ogromny wysilek wlozony w ta witryne rodzina i jakze godny podziwu wynik! Gratuluje serdecznie!
Looking for the Turzanski clan.
Noo!!! Wuju jestem pod wrazeniem, bardzo ciekawa strona.
Jest nas więcej:Beata,Monika, Kamil. Jesteśmy zaskoczeni, że jest tyle POPIELÓW!
What a pleasure it was to see so many Popiels. My father was born in Trembowla, Poland. His name was Franciszech Popiel. My parents were married in Rendsburg,Germany, and later immigrated to Brisbane Queensland Australia in 1950. I would love to hear from anyone who may have links here in Australia.
I stumbled upon your page during some personal research on the my family name of Kuncewicz. Please let me commend you on a very informative site, well presented site which was a pleasure to view. Best Wishes, Donna.
Właśnie zaczynam szukać korzeni swojej rodziny i widząc tą stronę jestem pod wrażeniem.
Thank you for this wonderful Web site. My friend Mickael Popiel invited me to Kurozweki last summer and I still have in mind all the great things your family did for Poland.
I wish you all the best in you lives, and the strenght to continue this very special vocation.
Shocking for me and my family to find these great sites of Popiels. My grandparents came from Poland I am sure but there is very little information about our ancestors. Maybe we are another branch of Popiels´ family tree.
Hello!! I'm not one of the popiels or popels but thought i'd visit. I'm curious about 'popel'.TThis is a good site!!
Have you come across the names Papple Papil Paple Papel De Popil or De Papil, or have any reference to one of your relatives going to Scotland with William the Concorer. I would like to hear if you have or not. Email ryan.p@infogen.net.nz
Bardzo dobra strona. Badaniami genealogicznymi zajmuje sie od lat. Jedna z moich prababek Julianna Biernacka pochodzila z rodu Popielow. Jej ojciec JP. Mikolaj Popiel mieszkal w XIX w. w miescie Reszlu na Warmii.
my father, Jaroslav Popil, born in Luka, Galicia 1918, insisted on the Ukrainian spelling which has soft symbol following the "l". My uncle Ivan, emigrated to England after WW II and took the Polish spelling "Popiel". The arguments between them whether we were Polish or Ukrainian persisted through the years. My paternal relatives reside in Lviv and use the Ukrainian spelling which with the soft symbol distinguishes it from the Ukrainian. A Lviv uncle, Mikhailo Popil was a well known opera singer, his son Markian is still active musically, teaching and performing as a concert pianist.
A most wonderful web site. If any of your guest have information about Pomezanski,Straus, Wohlfeld and Pi(e)churski from Jezierzany near Borszczow, Tarnopol, Galicia East (now Ozerjany, Borsciv, Ternopil, Ukraine) and Siarczynski from Grzymalow near Skalat, Tarnopol, Galicia East (now Hrymajliv, Skalat, Ternopil, Ukraine) e-mail me.
Enjoyed your site very much.
decended from nobility perhaps - a nice situation if you should be a punk rocker in Germany with aristocratic pretensions ! - great site, might make everybody who pokes fun at the noble Popil name shut up for once
Gratuluje znakomicie opracowanej genealogii rodzinnej.
A very informative and well-presented web site. My best regards to the entire Popiel's clan. Bardzo ciekawa i swietnie wykonana strona. Gratulacje!!!
I'm trying to find information on my Polish 1- great-grandfather - count Piotr Zabielsky and 2- grandfather Jozef Maria Przybylski
Thank you, Tamara Maleevsky
A great Web site - well written and presented.
It is of great interest to me because The Biega's originate from close by - Mrzyglód and Sanok. See my web site at http://www.biega.com.
You were such a big help to me! Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
Very interesting. My grandfather came from Sokcil, Lemberg, Galicia, Austria and his last name, Zerebecki, is mentioned in you SAS list.
I was happy to see the excellent pages devoted to the Popiel family. My father, Boleslaw Biega, was a friend and associate of Karol Popiel (see http://www.biega.com)
Interesting site,My father Michel Herbowy came from Ruthenia to America in 1907 and my mother Bronislawa Wawrzyk from some where in Poland. keep up the good work. Hank Herbowy
Musze to zrobic w najblizszym czasie. Pozdrowienia Jozef Andrzej Wawrzak
Janie,
A really interesting site that you have put together her. I am impressed with the knowledge you have accumulated. And thanks Jan, for directing me to a possible relative from the Dobra Site.

Moje serdeczne pozdrawienia dla autorów i wszystkich Popielów na swiecie ******************************My best regards to all Popiels in the world ******************************
Z pewnoscia bedziemy do niej zagladac - tzn. Redakcja Polskiego Slownika Biograficznego, ktorej jestem pracownikiem.
W perwszy raz jechalam do Polski, do Warszawy, z kolezanka ktora poszukiwala rodzine w Sanoku.

This is a terrific site! I would like to know if anyone knows anything about Popelis' in Lithuania. Is there any possible relation to Popiels? I do know that Popelis is a very rare name in Lithuania, only 5 families have it. Jan has told me that there were Popiels who immigrated to Lithuania. Were we seperated a long time ago? Let me know.
I never knew much about my families history and was suprised to find they had a web site. I think it is realy neat that we were nobility and have a coat of arms.
Strona internetowa jest dobre rozbudowana .Podaje informacje zadane . Latwo wchodza fotografje i text . Olgierd Ligeza Stamiorwski
My roots go back to Germany somewhere. My father Henry (and his siblings all born in Winnifred, Alberta) after Grandpa John Popel moved to Canada from Oregon, USA. Grandpa- John Popel was from a family of 10 and his father was named John also. I'de like to know more.
A great site and very interesting for me. I could be one from the Popeils. I have same informations about my roots, but I would like to check its up before I'll send its to you.
I have very little immediate family here but I am trying to accumulate what I can. When I have some informaiton, I will send it to you. Thanks!
Eldyka
a beautiful website!!! makes me want to go out and renovate something...
A very interesting site. It has historical significance to me since my father and family lived in the Western Ukraine.
Thanks for your help, keep up the good work Byron
Uwazam,iz jest to wspaniala strona.Nareszcie mialam mozliwosc przesledzenia historii rodu ,z ktorego sie wywodze.
It's definitely a reference site for everyone who wants to put his families history on the web. I will put it in my favorites to use it for this purpose, unfortunately only in the far future. Nice job!

Wow! Your site is beautiful. But unfortunately with the poor commection of AOL, I cannot smoothly navigate from page to page.
Dziekuje.
Interesują mnie genealogie i heraldyka. Bardzo interesująca i zarazem lekko podana, dowcipna strona. Chciałbym by ktoś, kiedyś "popełnił" na łamach internetu podobną rzecz o moich rodowcach. Zameczkiem w Kurozwękach (który znam) jestem zauroczony. Pozdrowienia!
Tomek
My father, Bohdan Straszewicz, had a good friend with the surname of Popiel before the war. The Popiel family had an estate somewhere south of Warsaw. I passed by it once on the way to Krakow with my father. My father would like to know if Jan survived the war.
This is to correct my e-mail address I can also be reached at Laddush@aol.com. Great Site , very informative about the Popiel's.
My mother is a Popiel came to us 90 yrs ago. Attended Polish school St.Hedwigs chester Pa. where she learned her ancestor King Popiel was a tyrant and mad and supposedly the people fed him to the rats? Don't know if true or not my mother is 92 and the last of the Popiel's in her family
My father was from Drohobycz and fought at Monte Cassino. I'll be back soon!
Ludzie! Wojciech Krasucki PS.
Z niecierpliwoscia czekam na dzien kiedy go zobacze w pelni wyremontowanego, w calej swojej okazalosci. Moze kiedys skozystam z wszej oferty i spedze weekend w Waszych apartamentach :-))). Pozdrawiam. Marta Andrysiak z domu Pyrek
The best site of the subject, I ever seen. Good Luck. God Bless you.

Jestem synem Jana Chosciak-Popiela z Czapel Wielkich k/Miechowa. Pozdrawiam Wszystkich "nazwisnikow" znanych mi i nieznanych oraz autora tej strony, dzieki ktoremu moge powiekszyc swa wiedze o plennym rodzie POPIELOW . Jurek Popiel

Gratulujemy strony i pozdrawiamy krajanow.
Hi Jan, love the new site! Keep up the good work being the keepers of the flame.
I am German and live since 3 years in the United States. My father's name was Karl Heinz Popel. He was born in Marktredwitz, Baviera, Germany. My grandfather, Maximilian Popel, also used to live in Marktredwitz.
this is my cool family name!! what about king Popiel being eaten by mice!!! I love you all!
This is very interesting. It's nice to know that the name Popil was once known for something other than sounding like the toy from the 1980's "Popple's" and for the famous infomercial man "Ron Popiel".
Moj syn moze byc dumny z takiego rodu!
Matka moja: śp. Maria Górska córka Wacława Popiela z Kostrzynka i Zofii Krasickiej. Mam szereg materiałów -proszę o kontakt listowny. Tel.: 0-61 8308251
Ciekawe strony . Polecam swoja strone: www.republika.pl/vipmann
A most wonderful site. My grandmother's family of Popiel were from Dobra also. Thanks to all who have made our heritage come alive!
A wonderful web site with ties to my family history. If any of your guest have information about the Krasnicki clan from Stryjowka please let me know.
Pozdrawiam.
I enjoyed the web site. Looking for info on Polish and Jagiello History. If anyone that reads this has any info, email me. Thank You!
Where is Drohobycz? Does it still exist? Is it in Poland or in the Ukraine? I'm a bruno Schultz fan and have been looking for this for a while. Thanks much in advance. Kim
With reference to Katyn Woods. When I was a little boy in England in the late 1940's my Father told me the truth about the murders and that the NKVD were responsible for them all.All my life Katyn Woods has been special to me and I don't know how many times I told the TRUE story of Katyn to anyone who would listen.Over Christmas and New Year 1989/90 I was in Poland after helping to pulled down the Berlin Wall. While I was in Krakow I visited an exhibition there about the Katyn Murders. It was one of the most moving experiences of my life.Just looking at all the photos of those fine Polish Officers had me in tears. The loss to Poland of these fine men was a complete disaster for the country who would have help build a new and FREE Poland after the war. Little wonder the NKVD did their worst. I was so pleased to talk to the organisers and be able to tell them I had known the truth from childhood. I was happy to give a large donation to help the exhibition to travel further. Next day I was arrested and taken to Police HQ where they tried to charge me falsely with drink drivers, sorry I said I am tee total,I do not drink! But I was there for hours and still have nightmares of that day ,January 1st 1990. When they let me go I went south and did not stop till Budapest! With very Best Wishes Peter Cosgrov PS In the 1960's I operated out of Vienna into the East Bloc..But thats another story!
My father is the grandchild of Anton. His name is Irenej Lypynskyj Popel, born in Drohobyzc (Ukraine) in 1934. His mother , Olga Popel was born in 1908 and died in Argentina in 1979. Married to Stepan Lypynskyj, had three children Irenej (my father), Jaroslaw and Roman (my uncles). Olga popel had two sisters: Irene and Eugenia, and two brothers Mychaylo and Roman.
Any doubt, write.
Hello, There is much to say to you regarding this wonderful web site. While not of the Popiel descent, I do belong to the House of SAS. Since this is the time of the crucifixion of our Lord, I have spent much of this time reflecting on my heritage and reviewing my faith. I have spent virtually all day today on the internet searching for more information about my family's history - even searching through many Polish web sites. (Unfortunately I do not know the language. However, I can say that after spending all day at this I now know a few words -- the english translations have been useful.) It was only through my diligence in going through Polish web sites that I was able to come across your web page. And I'm very glad that I did! I don't want to go on too long, but I would like to add another story to your page within this guest signing. My grandparents came from the Ukraine - Galicia, near Halych/Halicz. During their lifetime, the area was controlled by the Austria-Hungarian Empire, which was subsequently given to Poland following WWI. Sometime later it became and independant part of the Ukraine. During all the political and physical turmoil (after my grandparents had their arranged marriage-- my apologies, my grandmother's maiden name escapes my for the moment), they sought a way out of the country. However, they had with them several children - many of who are my aunts and uncles who live today. (Unfortunately a couple of the children died before reaching significant age.) Moving to the city and taking as much as they could with them, they were able to obtain passage on a ship heading to North America. However during the waiting period an opportunity came up to come aboard an earlier vessel bound for Canada. They took to opportunity and set sail. During their voyage to Canada, WWII broke out, and the Germans wanting to control all sea-faring routes were sinking ships. One of which was the ship that my grandparents had previously been chartered for. It is only through God's good grace that my father was able to be born in Canada, and subsequently myself. (When my grandparents came to Canada because they didn't know English, their name was spelled Pohoreski, instead of Pohorecki, as I later found out.) I would like to mention that there is some information in particular that I am interested in. My father has spoke of a tradition when he was young of which he partook. This tradition is known as the Passover - especially from Jewish origins -- the smearing of the blood on the doorposts and lintels. As well, another tradition was the sheaf offering during a festival (Pentecost I believe). I would especially be interested in knowing if there are any other szlachta who are known to have observed these traditions. Finally if anyone has more information on the House of SAS, or the Pohorecki name, please e-mail me. My email will be valid until at least the fall, at which time I will have a new one. (I'll try to remember to update this registry.) Feel free to send information in Polish or Ukrainian also, as my parents are away this weekend, but I can ask them about translating when they return home. I hope that with future work a web page can be set up with information on the Pohorecki name - certainly with a link to this site! Thanks for all your hard work. Emmanuel
P.S. There was one thing that I have been curious about, and haven't come across any mention of it. That is on the szlachta language, particularly Ukrainain (I'm not familiar is such a thing exists in Polish). I have heard it mentioned that when the szlachta spoke it was of a "higher" form of the language. One which could certainly be recognized as a different 'form' or almost a different dialect of Ukrainian by those who would be intimitely familiar with the language. If anyone should happen to know more about this, I would appreciate any comments and I would recommend it as a healthy addition to all that you have here. Take care, and God bless.
Looking for information on an ancestor named pople or popel from england. very nice web site, thank you.
Zdradzilismy Ukraincow w Rydze. Edward I. Fialkowski
Hi I like this site, its amazing what manages to end up on it, I am 21 and I'm the son of Martin Popiel, I study in Edinburgh and spend the rest of the time in Kurosweki, You should get new pictures of the palace its got a facelift recently. Are any of the Popiel out there into treasure hunting, I'm looking for someone with sonar equipment to help search the cellars of the palace we suspect there is a second level of basements, so if anybody is interested please contact me. Also In kurosweki there is a lodge and the grounds offer lots of activities(horseriding etc..) And there is a discount rate for all Popiels or associated family. All welcome
All the best with this POpular POpiel site Cheers Paul
I am married to Pamela Popeil, the sister of singer Lisa Popeil. I am a genealogist and am searching for the parents of Isidore Popeil, the father of Samuel J. Popeil (inventor, businessman), the father of my wife. Isidore was born in New York City in the 1890s. We do not know his parents. Any link to our tree and the Polish King would be greatly appreciated.
Kudos on a wonderful and insightful web site. It had to be a labor of love. I am most grateful for the historial valuable information that you have provided and it has been a tremendous asset to me in being able to trace my heritage back to Dobra at least to the year 1785. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing with the rest of us this remarkable and significant web site. Have a enjoyable trip this summer when you revisit Dobra and I only wish I could join you to see if I possibly still have relatives living there. Again many THANKS.
Ciekawe Strony!
Pozdrowienia Rysiek Orlos
I signed your guest book previously, however I didn't write any comments. I have just finished looking in the directory for the soldiers who won the Virtuti Military cross, and saw my Grandfathers name listed. His name is Mikolaj Popiel, and I took on his name out of respect when he died. He did fight in WWII, in the Polish Cavalry I think. Anyway, I would really like to know if this is my Grandad, and if so, could you e-mail me the info that you have on him or any contacts. My Grandma is still alive, but is very reluctant to talk about the war or him, and the only memories I have of him are as a boy. I myself am a Soldier in the Canadian Army, and would to know about military tie to my ancestory.
Thankyou very much, and you have compiled a great website,
Mikolaj Popiel.
Hello my friends!! I hope that you may be able to tell me more about the 'wielopolski' family. My father was Adam and he was the son of Josef and Helen (Dziubek). Also, there was a man named Wladishaw Wielopolski who joined the union army in Ohio in 1865, to fight in the American Civil War. Who was this man? Thanking you in advance for any and all information that you may help me with. I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Thomas Wielopolski
The site is excellent. I'm interested in the Dobra site. My wife's parents were born in Dobra Sz. And my parents were born close to Dobra - Ulucz.
Jest to bardzo ciekawe, a zarazem interesujace. Jestem dopiero w stanie przegladania Waszej strony. Moze pozniej postaram sie napisac cos wiecej.
Thank you for building such an informative website on Dobra. This village is the ancestral home of The Gbur family. May the future generations appreciate this website for their reseaching of their ancestors as much as I did. Thank you very very much!!!! JEAN GBUR WASH
I was delighted to find a site on Dobra, because this is the village of my ancestors =The Gbur family. Your site was very informed and took a lot of effort to build. May the future generations appreciate this website as much as I did. Thank you very very much!!
Popiel to nazwisko panienskie mojej babci Bronislawy Szumanskiej. Moze dzieki Waszej stronie bede mogla to zbadac... A moja babcia jest wspaniala i rod Popielow moze z niej byc dumny.
Thank you for making such a well-done site on Polania and the family Popiels.
Be sure and check out our "Golden Helm" award, if you are interested in awards.
Thanks. Enjoyed your site very much.

thank you for your time and information
One of the best I have seen. My folks talked about being a "Szlacha" and the coat of arms over 50 years ago and I thought it was a just a story. I thank you for all the work you have done on this.
Dear Mr. Popiels
I would like to congratulate you on a fine job of creating this web site. In the near future I will try to do the same. Right now I am in the tedious process of collecting documentation. Sometimes it is very difficult to put things together with only shreds of evidence. Your family had descendd from nobility whereas my ancestors were peasants. Nevertheless the research is fascinating. Let's keep in touch.

A great web page. I have already completed research inot the coat of arms of SAS and i am happy to say that you have provided further material to me. Good luck and keep up the great page. It is certainly a proud moment when one can find an historical nobility link to ones name. Thanks for porviding the information. Should you have any information onthe name Podhorodecki please contact me. Keep up the great work.
Dr. Alfred Podhorodecki (Australia)
Jan, I am very sorry to see you go. Thankfully it is only a few miles away. I'm sure that I will see you here again soon, in the palace of Kim. Good luck.....in what ever... Jenn Feb.11th,2000
This is for my friend Popiel (Jan, the future king of Poland). It is so said to have him leave the palace, but at least he only goes two miles away. I have instructed Jan he must visit at least once a week or he will risk falling out of grace as a king of Princeton Avenue where he mingles with other kings, queens, and Albert Einschteins'. He has been a pleasure to be with, and I hope we will have many more moments together.
Long live the King!!! Popiel! Popiel! Popiel!

Yes, the Popiels' site is very cheesy indeed. Congratulations to Jan for the content and Slawomir for the translation into English. I found this site while looking for the mice. Since now on this will be my favourite site and you know why: where are the Popiels there are the mice. Long live the Popiels!
Your Kot Martha
very cheesy! A lot more interesting than a red honda civic! Signed "Honorary mouse?"
Thank you for the information. It was of great help. I would like to know more about the Hunczak roots. My grandfather's name was Vasyl Hunczak and he had 5 or 6 brothers - Andryj, Sawko, Brafiri, Prokop. Vasyl was from the Brunary (not sure on spelling)area Poland/Ukraine. If you have any information please advise.
I FOUND YOUR SITE TO BE VERY EDUCATIONAL. THIS I DID NOT LEARN IN MY HISTORY CLASS.
Great job. I think I like going through the e-mails. I can than check if there is anyone I can contact on my list of ancestors. Researching: KLUSKOWSKI, ZMIJEWSKI, PROCZEK. I HAVEN'T GOT THE SPIRIT, YET. Hope many others follow your tracks. LaVerne
Slawomir and Jan greetings and congratulations on your unbelievably esoteric sight for The web. As for Kings and Mice..... well Steinbeck said it all.
Dzien dobry. Pozdrawiamy serdecznie. Jan Kołucki - senior naszego rodu urodził się w Kruszwicy i o Popielu wie wiele. Lubimy Mysia Wieze i Gopło. Wszystkiego najlepszego Mirka, Jan i Lidka ich córka z Płocka
Jan, Glad to see you are still maintaining this wonderful site. How is the mayoral election coming along? And how are you wonderful room-mates? Why don't you drop me a line when we can get together for a beer at the Santa Fe Inn..... Hope all is well... Best Regards, Henry

Byle do czerwca albo i przyszłego wieku. FSD
Bardzo udana strona, ciekawie skomponowana. Dla mnie szczegolnie ciekawa, bowiem jestem synem Krystyny Ganowicz, z domu Chosciak Popiel, corki Jana i Janiny Popielow, ostatnich wlascicieli majatku Czaple Wielkie.
